PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
Past Positions
Summer 2023
Geosyntec Consultants
As an Intern at Geosyntec I was immersed into the world of Landfill Design and Permitting. I prepared a variety of calculation packages and co-authored a subsurface geotechnical report and material properties package. I engaged in several hours of field work and was routinely responsible for communicating with sales representatives and manufactures for fulfill scope of work items. I was also involved in a waste characterization desktop study for proposal development.
The Boldt Company
Summer 2022
As a project engineer intern for Boldt on the Howard University Earnst Just Power Plant Project I performed site safety walks, prepared submittals/change orders, reviewed RFI submissions, and created an organization system to identify critical documents for project close/turnover. I earned my OSHA 30-hour certification and learned how to use the Bluebeam software for annotating site plans. I was expected to track weekly progress photos of the project, attend meetings with key stakeholders, and communicate parking closures to nearby businesses.
The City of Hollywood
Summer 2021
As a civil engineering intern for the City of Hollywood, I was responsible for digitizing plat maps and creating a system by which they can be organized and identified. These documents were very historic with dates as early as 1910. Plat maps are critical documents for the City and other interested parties who need information about how a piece of land or lot is subdivided.
Reflection
These experiences have challenged me to look inward into what I am really passionate about. I am passionate about helping communities manage and treat everyday resources such as waste and water. I believe that all of my experiences gave me a glimpse into the worlds that often intersect to bring engineering ideas and innovation to reality. Consultants, Local Authorities, and Construction Workers all play vital roles in the success of a project from its beginning to closeout.
